Makes me wish I knew what the internet was when I was younger. I should have bought business.com and sex.com. I would have been rich.

I'm trying to figure out controller scripts for DX and I'm running in to a problem. I can't get DX to recognize anything but right clicks on my widget. I've tried this code to test it out. It only produces a message box when I right click, not when I left-click or double click on the widget.

Sub Object_OnScriptEnter
desktopx.RegisterController Object.Name
End Sub

Function OnControl(lType, lCode)
msgbox (lType & " " & lCode)
End function

Also, the documentation states that I can create a custon right click menu for my widget.

For instance you can replace the right click or systray widget menu by returning true to 1 / 1 notification and provide your own menu as described in the preceding chapter.

How do I return true? and where would I place the code for the new menu?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Confused,
ExodusCrow

Would be possible to have DX save previously exported widget/gadget information? Currently it only saves the last exported widget in the registry. Could this be done easily with an XML file that would save multiple widget preferences? It would save information such as: Name, author, path, icon, version, etc, and could be accessible when you export a widget/gadget. I envision a combo box titled "Previously exported widgets", with a list of widgets. Select the widget and all the appropriate fields are filled in with the information.

I would LOVE to see this feature, and not sure why I've never seen a request for it before.

Thanks for reading,
ExodusCrow

I'm in N64 heaven!

This has to be the coolest thing I've ever seen!

GoldenEye: Source is a Total Conversion (TC) mod using Half Life 2's powerful Source engine. The game is being produced by 36 dedicated enthusiasts who all have fond memories of the original GoldenEye for N64 and wanted to update that classic gameplay with 2005 graphics.

I think it's about time.

Feb 6, 2005 5:49 PM by Discussion: Personal Computing
I've been having a lot of problems with my computer for a while now, and I think it's about time to format my HD. I haven't been able to use norton for a while and some programs (DX and OD+) aren't remembering their settings. It has also been running very sluggishly.

I would go about formatting without creating this post, except I do not know the proper way of doing this. I know to back up all my important files. But how do I format properly and re-install windows. Should I create a boot disk with cd-rom drivers on it? Or do I even need them?

Any help on this would be appreciated. This is getting REALLY frustrating.

Unofficial List by ExodusCrow

Jan 11, 2005 9:44 PM by Discussion: OS Customization

After seeing the first annual top skinning awards (The Skinnies), I decided to put together a list of some innovative and well designed DesktopX widgets and objects of 2004. Some things to take into note when you are looking at this list; weather objects and calendars were not included. This is simply because of the large amount of both in the DX libraries.

The following is not in any particular order.

Google Search by _Martin_
3D Battery Meter Widget by paxx
DigiData by _Martin_
FTP'Drop by Custonian
Picture Frame by _Martin_
SkinChanger by Tiggz
Desk Notes by _Martin_
Gadget MP3 Player by BoogieBac
Wireless Signal Strength v2.0 by ExodusCrow
Anything GT3 by Tiggz
RC Car V4 by Tombalaci
Fuzzy Clock by Tiggz
Fuzzy Uptime by WickedP

c242Orion(Cobalt)Info by c242
Realistic Animated Christmas Snowflakes by GreenReaper
CPU & Ram Meter by vukovicnikola

If I have missed some good widgets out there, add a comment with a link to the widget as well as whom it was made by! Hope everybody likes the list.

Some of the widgets I would like to see in 2005:

1. Spell checker widget similar to the way MSWord handles spelling and grammar mistakes with the red underlines.
2. Nice looking animated wallpapers.
3. Widgets that add functionality to MSN or other IM clients.

I do not work for Stardock and I do not like soup.

Updated to version 2.0

Dec 29, 2004 12:32 AM by Discussion: New Releases
I've recently updated my wireless strength object to version 2.0. Some of the main updates are:
- Implemented a function created by Kevin Cummings to solve a problem with some wireless cards. [IsWLANAdapter()]
- Now saves size and position on exit
- Updated graphics to 128x128, instead of 256x256, shrinking the object size in half
- Fixed a couple bugs when you resize the object
- Now comes packaged with a test object that creates a log for debugging

Anybody that was having problems with older version should check this one out. The new function by Kevin Cummings fixes a lot of the problems that people have had with it not identifying their wireless adapter. That new function combined with the new debugging object should allow 99% of people having problems to fix it themselves.

This version does NOT work with 118mbps cards. If anybody knows the stages the speed increases and decreases with these cards, please send me an email (exoduscrow@hotmail.com).

Hope you like the new update!

Is there an option that would allow me to search through the forums? I know there is a way to search through articles, but what about the forums? It would make finding answers to previously asked questions much easier and would eliminate new posts on the same topics.
